Student Monitoring - November 2000
1. Basic Principles
(a) Every student is given at least a 5 minute one-to-one interview by every subject teacher between now and Friday 10th November.
(b) 3 Objectives
1. to have an adult to adult dialogue which helps the student to feel more comfortable in approaching you for help in the future - a new experience for significant numbers of students,
2. to raise students' self-confidence and self-esteem,
3. to give them an accurate picture of the grades their work to date is leading to.
(c) The grades you give are the grades you believe they will get next June in A-level or AS or GNVQ or GCSE etc.
2. Grades
Grades for A2 students
can be A, A/B, B/C
.., E/N, N/U, U.
Grades for A1
students at AS level can be A, A/B, B/C
., E/U, U (no N grade).
3. Make the
interview a positive experience - praise those doing well, encourage those
who need to do better as a critical friend.
4. Maximum of two lessons of teaching/class to be used. Stick to
the 5/7 minutes per student!!
