Key Skills Introduction
- The college is entering all students for level 3 in Application of Number, IT and Communication.
- The AS year group are split in half and one group attend IT Key Skills lessons twice a week leading up to examination in January. The other half of the year group attend IT lessons from then on and sit the June examination.
- Application of Number and Communication exam preparation are delivered
through a number of lunchtime workshops ready for the January examinations.
- It is the intention that all students complete their Key Skills in
the AS year and focus on General Studies in the A2 year.
- Each department is required to write a piece of work that will cover at least one of the key skills. As the focus of this piece of work is on curriculum material all students must complete every Key Skills assignment.
- The college appointed a team of 8 staff to be responsible for the implementation and co-ordination of key skills across the college.
- This group has verified each department's piece of work before it was set to ensure that the students are following appropriate tasks.
