Locating the College
Heading North up the M1
You have two choices
- stay on the motorway up to the M62 at junction 42 and then follow the instructions Heading West along the M62 to junction 24 (about 25 miles).
- The more scenic route, which is only about 11 miles, is set out below.
- Leave the M1 at junction 38 taking the A637 to Huddersfield.
- Pass the new roundabout at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park
- Pass straight across the the next roundabout towards Flockton
- Go through Flockton
- At the Grange Moor roundabout turn left onto the A642
- Continue for about 3 miles until you reach the traffic lights at Waterloo
- Join the A629 by turning right. The traffic lights show it as straight on. (There will now be a bus lane on your left)
- Continue through several sets of traffic lights until you come to a large roundabout, with Sainburys on your right and the University of Huddersfield on your left
- Turn left onto the ringroad
- On the ring road follow signs for the M62 West
- At the next set of lights the road forks with two sets of 3 lanes, keep in the left most lane of the three lanes which carry straight on (ie the right hand set of 3 lanes). You should be heading up the hill past the firestation
- Once passed these set of lights, stay in the left hand lane and go through the next set
- Take the slip road left at the next set of lights - the Technical college will be ahead to your left
- Almost immediately take the left slip road again into Greenhead Road
- The college entrance is on the right just after the first cross roads.
Heading East along the M62
Leave at junction 23 and take the second exit off roundabout (signed A640/Huddersfield/Town Centre), from here it is approx 3.5 miles to the college, straight along the A640.
After approx 1 mile you will pass a large school campus on your right, keep going for another mile to a roundabout (Esso Petrol Station on right, just before roundabout). Go straight across at the roundabout, still heading towards the town centre. After approx 1 mile you will reach another roundabout (ambulance station on left). Straight across at this roundabout, road descends towards Huddersfield centre. Look for Greenhead Park on right. Turn right immediately after the park (just passed pedestrian crossing/traffic lights) onto Park Avenue, take second right into Greenhead Road, the college entrance is just on the right.
Heading South down the M1
Take the M62 West bound at junction 42 and follow the directions, Heading West along the M62

Leave at junction 24 and at the Ainley Top roundabout turn right on to the A629 to Huddersfield.
After approx 2 miles turn right at the traffic lights. At the roundabout turn left on to A640.
The road descends towards Huddersfield centre. Look for Greenhead Park on right. Turn right immediately after the park (just passed pedestrian crossing/traffic lights) onto Park Avenue, take second right into Greenhead Road, the college entrance is just on the right.
Walking from the train station
On leaving the Train Station turn right, head towards Bar Non public house. Walk up St George's Street to main road at the top. Cross the main road via the pedestrian crossing, turn right following the road up to the traffic lights at the ring road. Cross the ring road at the pedestrian crossing, Huddersfield Technical College is on the righthand side. Cross the slip road and then take your first left up Greenhead Road. Just beyond the crossroads Greenhead College can be found on the righthand side.
Walking from the bus station
From the Bus Station head left towards Westgate, turn left following the road up to the traffic lights at the ring road. Cross the ring road at the pedestrian crossing, Huddersfield Technical College is on the righthand side. Cross the slip road and then take your first left, Greenhead Road. Just beyond the crossroads Greenhead College can be found on the righthand side.
