New parents evening

This aimed at parents who have a son or daughter studying here at Greenhead for the first time and explains our monitoring, tutor and student support systems. The evening is usually very busy so parents only please.

Thursday 15 December 2011 - This is an opportunity to meet up with friends who left last year. You may wish to post a message on our alumni bulletin board.

Open evenings 2012 (prospective students and parents)

A chance to visit this highly popular Sixth-form College on:

• THURSDAY 5 JANUARY 6.15pm - 8.45pm
• TUESDAY 10 JANUARY 6.15pm - 8.45pm or
• MONDAY 16 JANUARY 6.15pm - 8.45pm

There will be oppportunities to listen to a talk from the Principal during the evening.
It is strongly recommended that you attend an open evening before completing your application form.

CAR PARKING ARRANGEMENTS
There will be no provision for parking on site (except for blue badge holders). Please allow extra time to find a parking space in the near vicinity.
Springwood car park is free from 6.00pm onwards and is only a short walk from college.
Princess Royal car park is available until 9.00pm

Please inform Reception if you are a blue badge holder and we will make arrangements to reserve a space in the college car park.

What happens after you have received an offer in 2012?

By the Easter holiday	By this date you should have heard whether or not you have been successful in securing a conditional offer. You must return the reply slip by the given date to confirm your acceptance.
Monday, 13 August	Welcome pack sent to home address (by 2nd class post) with information regarding start of term on Tuesday, 28 August.
Tuesday, 30 August	You will have been given a time to report to College in the pack sent on the 13 August. It is very important that you bring the following items with you: Your official examination results slip(s) A book of postage stamps A black pen £7 for student union membership and card £25 for the Alton Towers trip, if you wish to go (cheque payable to Greenhead College) An emergency contact number for your parent/guardian Completed questionnaires/forms etc from the 13 August pack The process of starting to sort out your course and your personal tutor, as well as your timetable, will probably take about two hours on this first day.
Wednesday, 29 August at 9.40am	We will be helping you to get to know the geography of the College and outlining College procedures, as well as finalising details for teaching to begin on Friday, 31 August.
Thursday, 30 August	Optional trip to Alton Towers organised by the Senior Students.
Friday, 31 August	First day of teaching for first year students.

Employment and Gap Year Fair

The Employment and Gap Year Fair will take place on Thursday, 23 February 2012 between 4.30pm and 6.30pm in the Main Hall and Reading Room. The Fair is an ideal opportunity for students and their parents/guardians to see what is available at the end of the A2 year for those who may not wish to embark on a full-time degree course.
It will be very useful for A1s who are currently researching all options at 18 and for A2s who have not applied to university or college.

Higher Education evening for parents

For parents of our first year students. This evening offers the latest information to help parents prepare for and support their sons and daughters who will be applying to university next year.
