It is recommended that you visit the college on one of our open evenings in January, before completing an application form
Can I get a place at Greenhead College?
- Greenhead College is a sixth form college catering exclusively for 16 to 19 year olds.
- We offer only Advanced programmes of study so you will need a minimum of five GCSE passes at grade C, from four different subject areas. This must include a grade C in English or higher. Courses 'equivalent to GCSE' will be accepted only at the college's discretion.
- Places are offered first to applicants from our 12
partner schools in the Huddersfield area. These are:
- All Saints Catholic High School
- Almondbury High School and Language College
- Colne Valley High School
- North Huddersfield Trust School
- Holmfirth High School
- Honley High School
- King James's School
- Moor End Technology College
- Newsome High School and Sports College
- Netherhall Learning Campus
- Royds Hall High School
- Salendine Nook High School/Technology College
- The remaining places are then offered to other applicants on consideration of mock GCSE results and the availability of subject places.
- Applicants must be eligible for funding by the Learning and Skills Council.
How to apply from partner schools
- Visit the college with your parents on one of our Open Evenings.
- If your school is taking part in the Kirklees Common Application Process (CAP) scheme, you will apply online. In this case, full instructions on how to apply will be given to you at your school
If not: - You will be given the prospectus and application form at school.
- Fill in the application form and hand it in at school.
- Your school will deliver the application forms to the college.
- Applications will not be acknowledged before 9th January 2012.
- The closing date for applications is Friday 10th February 2012.
- We will interview you at your school.
- A decision on whether to offer you a place will be given at the interview.
- If offered a place it must be accepted within ten days.
How to apply from non-partner schools
- Visit the college with your parents on one of our Open Evenings.
- You will be given the prospectus and application form at the Open Evening.
- Fill in the application form (available from December 1) and post it to the college.
- Applications will not be acknowledged before 9th January 2012.
- The closing date for applications is Friday 10th February 2012.
- We will invite you to attend an interview at the college.
- Ideally you should bring your official mock examination results to the interview. If they are not available, they can be posted to the college.
- A decision on whether to offer you a place will be posted to you by the end of April 2012, provided that mock examination results have been submitted.
- If offered a place it must be accepted within ten days.
Kirklees Common Application Process Online
- It may be possible to apply to Greenhead College online if your school is taking part in the Kirklees scheme. In this case, full instructions on how to apply will be given to you at your school.

Open Evenings 2012
A chance for year 11 pupils and their parents to visit this highly popular Sixth-form College on:
- THURSDAY 5 JANUARY 6.15pm - 8.45pm or
- TUESDAY 10 JANUARY 6.15pm - 8.45pm or
- MONDAY 16 JANUARY 6.15pm - 8.45pm
There will be opportunities to listen to a talk from the Principal during the evening. Please come along and meet the staff and students, find out about subjects you are thinking about taking at college. These evenings are important to help you make the right decisions for your future.
Parking at college is limited but there is extra free parking for Open Evenings in Princess Royal car park, Greenhead Road.
