Greenhead College Governors

Eva Lambert (FCCA, FRSA, FCMI)
Chair

Eva is currently Chair of Governors , as well as being a member of the Finance, Buildings, Search and Remuneration sub committees.
Eva is an accountant by profession and has had a career in the Health Service, starting as a Clerk in the Salaries and Wages department in 1973 and finally becoming Chief Executive of the Huddersfield NHS Trust in 1992.
Eva has worked as Chief Executive for a women’s health charity as well as being an Honorary visiting Fellow at the University of York. In addition, Eva is also Finance Director at Huddersfield Lawn and Tennis Squash Club.
Eva also has charitable roles as a Trustee and Chair of the local Mencap group and Trustee and Vice Chair of KAL.

Clinton Burhouse
Vice Chair

Clinton Burhouse is the founder and chairman of Burhouse Ltd, the UK's largest crystal and mineral wholesaler who has now been trading for 40 years. He has been a Governor at Greenhead College for approximately six years.

Roger Bryant
Chair of Audit

After qualifying as an Accountant and working in banking in London, Roger spent fourteen years as a lecturer at the University of Huddersfield. He now works as a freelance lecturer, author and consultant for the Accountancy profession.
He spends his leisure time gardening, walking, reading history and biography and watching television.
Both his children came to Greenhead College and after attending Birmingham University, one now works as a compliance manager for a national charity and the other, after going to Edinburgh University and qualifying as an accountant, now works in the public private advisory team of a major firm of accountants.

Mark Hanson

Mark has been a Governor since 2000. He established Hanson Chartered Surveyors in 1989 and has been associated with the local business community for over 25 years. He is a key contributor to the work of the Finance Committee.
Mark has two daughters who have attended the college as well as his two nieces.
Outside interests include sport, music and the theatre.


Charles Kaye
Chair of Policy

Charles has been a Governor at Greenhead College for over ten years and was the Chair of the Corporation from 2008 - 2010.
He was previously a Director at Cummins Turbo Technologies (Holset here in town) and is now semi retired but still works in a consultancy capacity and leads presentations worldwide on ‘going global’.
Charles first joined the Corporation as a Parent Governor and has served on every sub- committee.
He is Craft Secretary of the Honley Show and councillor of the Holme Valley Parish Council.

Mehboob Khan

Mehboob has been a Governor at Greenhead College since 2003. Two of his children attended the college.
Mehboob is the Leader of Kirklees Council and has been an active member of the Labour Party for over 20 years. He is involved in Labour Party policy development at a national level and serves on several, key, national bodies.
He has three children and is married to Samina.

Christine Milsom
Staff Governor

Christine is currently Chair of the Health and Safety sub committee.
She is an Assistant Principal and has taught Chemistry at the college since 1997. Prior to that she taught in comprehensive schools, an F.E. college and Adult Education.
Christine has been Vice Chair and Chair of Governors at a school in North Kirklees.

Ros Moors
Staff Governor

Ros was elected by the Greenhead staff to the governing body in 2008 and is a member of the Audit, Health and Safety, and Policy Committees.
Ros graduated with a degree in Economics from Bath University before achieving a post graduate qualification in Librarianship from Manchester. She has worked in various University and College libraries, in Manchester, Edinburgh and Barnsley before coming to Greenhead in 1995.
Ros is a chartered librarian and manages the college library and other learning resources including the college website.

Mark Partington

Mark Partington

Mark was appointed to the Governing body in June 2009. He is currently Director of Operations at Calderdale and NHS Foundation Trust and has over 25 years experience as a senior manager within the NHS.
Mark holds a Law degree and a Masters degree in Leadership, Innovation and Change. Mark has an interest in Leadership practice and teaches two management programmes within the Trust.
Mark is a keen sports fan (watching and playing) and resides in Halifax.

Martin Rostron
Principal and ex officio member

Martin hails from Oldham, Lancashire. He attended Liverpool University, picking up English Honours Degree (First Class), a PGCE and some lecturing experience along the way. Martin’s first teaching post was at Knutsford High School as an English Teacher and then Assistant Head of Sixth. Martin then moved into the general FE securing the post of Head of English at Priestley College in Warrington: later becoming Head of the Humanities Faculty.
Martin joined the College in 1991, initially as Vice Principal, securing the post of Principal in February 2002.

Peter Skuse
Chair of Finance

Peter came to Huddersfield from Sheffield aged 13. He studied at Bristol University (with Charles Kaye, our Chair of Governors) and read Law, qualifying later as a Chartered Accountant with the local firm, Armitage and Norton. He was appointed a partner in 1980 before moving to KPMG. He then went on to work independently and in 1995 bought an interest in GR Pickards to fulfil a lifetime interest in wine. Following laryngeal cancer in 2001, he sold the business to Clarks but still works full time for them as a buyer.

Clerk

Debra has worked at the college since 2008. As well as holding the position of Clerk to the Corporation she is also the College HR Manager. She graduated from the University of Huddersfield and is a Chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, and is currently pursuing Fellowship status.

Ranjit Uppal

Ranjit was a former student at the College. Ranjit qualified as a Solicitor in 1997 and has been a Partner at Parker Bird Gardner since 2000.
Ranjit is a member of the Law Society Children Panel, a Senior Law Society Accredited Immigration Asylum Solicitor and is a Higher Courts (all proceedings) advocate.
He is experienced in all areas of family/child law including care proceedings, special guardianship orders, adoption, removal from jurisdiction, residence and contact disputes.
He has a keen interest in immigration law and asylum and is head of the Immigration Department. Ranjit is recognised nationally as an expert in immigration and asylum law, and regularly receives instructions from all areas of the United Kingdom and abroad.
Ranjit was the first Sikh solicitor in Huddersfield and his reputation within the profession locally was recognised by him being elected as the youngest ever President of the Huddersfield Incorporated Law Society in its 125 year history.
