Budding Lawyers enter the courtroom for a Mock Trial experience

On Wednesday 21 February, 30 A Level Law students spent the day at the University of Huddersfield to take part in a Mock Trial Experience Day.

On the day, students were given a masterclass on court etiquette and advocacy before being split into two teams – defence and prosecution.

With assistance from academic staff, they prepared and presented a murder, robbery and a maliciously inflicting GBH case, compiling arguments based on their evidence packs. They then took to the courtroom to present their arguments in front of the judge and jury.

Overall, there were two convictions and an acquittal making the winning team the Prosecution Team!

Our students had a brilliant day and really enjoyed experiencing how an actual courtroom works and putting their learnings into practice. A really great way of preparing them for their next steps within the legal sector.

A huge thank you to the University of Huddersfield for providing this invaluable experience.
