Creating a Parent Account for CEDAR

  1. Parents can create a CEDAR account at the following url: https://cedar.greenhead.ac.uk/auth/account/create
  2. After following this link, you will be directed to the below page where you can begin creating your account.

*Please note the Student Reference refers to the student number and not the Student Name

3. If the email address and student reference (student number) match the records on the college systems, an email will be sent with a link to finalise creating the account by setting a password.

*Please note that this link will expire once used or if not used after 24 hours.

4. After clicking on the link in the email, you will be directed to a page where you can create a password for your account.

5. Once you have set the password, you will then be able to access CEDAR using your personal email address and the password you have created.

Reset Password for CEDAR Parent Account

1. Parents can reset the password for their CEDAR account at the following url: https://cedar.greenhead.ac.uk/auth/resetparent?username=EMAIL_ADDRESS

*Please note that the ‘EMAIL_ADDRESS’ at the end of this URL should be replaced with the email address of the account you are trying to reset the password for.

2. After following this link, you will be directed to the below page where you can begin resetting the password for your account.

*Please note the Student Reference refers to the student number and not the Student Name

3. If the email address, student username (student number) and student date of birth match the records on the college systems, an email will be sent with a link to reset your password.

*Please note that this link will expire once used or if not used after 24 hours.

4. After clicking on the link in the email, you will be directed to a page where you can create a password for your account.

5. Once you have reset the password, you will then be able to access CEDAR using your personal email address and your new password.

Logging into CEDAR

1. Once you have created your account and set you password, you can log in to CEDAR here – https://cedar.greenhead.ac.uk/auth/login – below is an example of the CEDAR log in page.

2. On CEDAR homepage click ‘Parent Sign In’.

3. Enter your email address and password and then click Login.

CEDAR Dashboard

1. Once you have logged in you will be taken to the CEDAR Dashboard, which will look like the below.

2. The CEDAR Dashboard gives you an overview and quick access to student attendance, timetable, tutor, and Assignments. You can also use the side menu to access more information.

3. The ‘Attendance’ box will show you the students’ current overall attendance, you can also click ‘View Attendance Summary’ to get a more comprehensive breakdown of the students attendance.

The ‘Today’s Activities’ box will show you the students’ timetable for that day, you can click ‘View Full Timetable’ to view the students full weekly timetable.

The pastoral log box will display the name of the students’ tutor and allow you to quickly email them by clicking on the ‘Email your tutors’ button.

The fourth box shows any upcoming assignments the student has.

*Please note that not all assignments are on CEDAR

College Assessment Points (CAPS) on CEDAR



1. Login using your email address and password, you will then see your home screen.

2. Click on the Curriculum and Achievement section, and then the College Assessment Points (CAPS) link in the green menu bar, which expands from the left-hand side of the screen when you hover over it or tap on the CEDAR logo.

3. This is an example of the College Assessment Points page. You will see a breakdown from each assessment point/monitoring which will usually include a grade and an effort level for each subject.

4. You can also expand the tabs under ‘Results Detailed’ to see more detailed information relating to each of the assessment points and monitoring.

Update Contact Details on CEDAR

This guide will show you how to update your contact details on CEDAR. It is important that your contact details are kept up to date.

1. Once you have signed in, go the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. From the list of options, choose Update Details. You can then choose from Update Contact Details or Update Medical Details. Select Update Contact Details.

2. You should now be on the update my details page.

*Click on the ‘Check your details here’ link, to check your current details.

3. Fill out the form with your contact details and any additional information.

4. Before submitting the form, check your details are correct. Once you have checked the details, click submit form.

5. Once you have clicked submit, you should receive a message confirming that the information has been sent for processing.

How to Email Your Student’s Tutor/Teacher(s) on CEDAR

1. Login using your email address and password, you will then see your home screen.

2. Access the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, either by hovering over it or clicking on CEDAR logo.
Now click on ‘Email Teachers’.

3. You should now be on the email teacher’s page. Select a teacher from the options in the ‘Not Selected’
box and click the left arrow to move them into the ‘Selected’ box.

4. Complete the rest of the form, and then click ‘Submit Form’ to send your email.
Please select your email address from the dropdown, give your email a subject and then type your
message.

How to Record and View Absences on CEDAR

1. Login using your email address and password, you will then see your home screen.

2. You can click the ‘View Attendance Summary’ button seen above to see a summary of a student’s attendance for the whole year.

This page shows a summary/breakdown of attendance for each subject, including the date they were last present, the course time lost, and number of lessons missed. You can also see a monthly breakdown of attendance for each subject as well as the Year to Date (YTD) attendance.

3. You can also view your students absences on CEDAR, as well as creating an absence for certain appointments, such as medical appointments.
*Please note that absences due to illness can not be reported through CEDAR and should be reported following the colleges absence policy which can be found on the college website here – https://www.greenhead.ac.uk/college-info/absence-reporting
In the CEDAR menu go to > Presence > Absences, you will then see two options, ‘Absences List’ and ‘Absences Entry’.

4. Clicking the Absence List option will take you to the Absence List Entries page, here you will be able to see all of a students absences, the reason for that absence and the date of the absence.

5. Clicking the Absence Entry option will allow you to add and Absence List entry for that student, you will need to enter the start and end date and select a reason why. You will need to complete the below form and click submit.
*Please note, some reasons will require evidence and you may be contacted to provide said evidence.

How to View Exam Timetables on CEDAR

1. Login using your email address and password, you will then see your home screen.

2. In the CEDAR menu go to > Exams > Exam Timetable.

3. The page will now display the exam timetable for your student. Details include, the course, the paper, the date as well as the start and end time of the exam, the location, and the seat. The students’ candidate number is also displayed.

How to View Careers Logs on Cedar

1. Login using your email address and password, you will then see your home screen

2. In the CEDAR menu go to > Planning Ahead > My Careers Log.

3. This page displays the career log summary for your student. It will show an overview of any future plans and other further careers notes discussed at careers meetings.
