Business
Why Study This Subject?
Here at Greenhead College, Business is an engaging, relevant and dynamic subject that explores how organisations operate, compete and grow in an increasingly complex global economy.
Whether you aspire to become an entrepreneur, work in marketing, finance or management, or simply develop a deeper understanding of the world around you, Business provides knowledge and skills that are highly valued by universities and employers.
One of the most exciting aspects of the course is its strong connection to the real business world. Students investigate the strategies, successes and challenges faced by a variety of local, national and international organisations, applying business theory to contemporary issues and real-world situations.
Recent case studies have included organisations such as Rolls-Royce, Aldi, Amazon, Tesla, Starbucks, Apple, Unilever and Tesco, providing valuable insight into how businesses respond to changing markets, consumer behaviour and global challenges.
The topical nature of the subject means lessons are regularly shaped by current affairs and developments in the business world, making Business a fascinating and ever-evolving addition to any A Level programme. Students develop analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills while exploring key areas such as entrepreneurship, marketing, operations, finance and human resource management.
The Business Department benefits from strong links with industry, universities and former students. A well-established speaker programme gives students access to professionals from a wide range of careers and sectors, offering valuable insight into employment opportunities, industry trends and higher education pathways.
If you are curious about how businesses make decisions, respond to change and influence the economy, A Level Business will challenge you to think critically, communicate effectively and develop the confidence to succeed in a wide range of future careers.
This course follows the Pearson (Edexcel) specification and explores the key functional areas of business, including:
- Marketing
- Finance
- Operations
- Human resources
Students will also study business strategy and managing change within a global business environment, analysing what organisations must do to remain competitive, overcome challenges and achieve success.
Other than the College’s general entry requirements, there are no additional qualifications required.
Studying A Level Business offers far more than classroom-based learning. Students benefit from a wide range of Enrichment opportunities designed to deepen their understanding of business, develop employability skills and provide valuable insight into future career and higher education pathways.
The Business Department has strong links with industry professionals, universities and former students, supported by a well-established speaker programme.
