Greenhead College Students Achieve Outstanding Results in National Maths Competitions
19 October 2026Greenhead College students studying our Mathematics courses have recently achieved outstanding results in two national competitions – UKMT Maths Competition and Mathematical Olympiad for Girls.
UKMT Maths Competition
Fourteen students took part in the UKMT Maths Competition for Girls, an hour-long mathematical problem-solving challenge.
Seven students achieved a Distinction, while the remaining participants were awarded Merit and Participation certificates. Grace was named Best in College.
Mathematical Olympiad for Girls
Following the competition, Sophie B, Sanaa, Sophie P and Elissa progressed to the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls, a demanding two-and-a-half-hour examination comprising five extended problem-solving questions. Some questions require students to present full mathematical proofs and detailed written arguments.
All four students achieved a Distinction, with Sophie B being named Best in College. She also received a Bronze Award and has qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad later this year.
These are outstanding achievements, and we congratulate all the students involved on their hard work, dedication and success.
