Greenhead College Welcomes Senior Leaders for SFCA Senior Leadership Development Programme
15 October 2026Greenhead College was delighted to host the first visit of this year’s Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA) Leadership Development Programme.
Designed by the SFCA and delivered in collaboration with leading sixth form colleges nationwide, the programme is aimed at supporting both current and aspiring senior leaders working within the specialist 16-19 education sector.
Throughout the academic year, 30 senior leaders and future principals from colleges across the country will participate in a series of five college visits alongside dedicated professional development sessions.
Greenhead was proud to launch this year’s programme by hosting the first event, bringing together delegates for a day of professional learning, networking and sector-focused discussion.
The programme provides participants with opportunities to explore the leadership challenges and opportunities facing sixth form colleges today. It also helps develop the skills, knowledge and professional connections needed to lead effectively within a constantly evolving educational landscape.
Reflecting on the importance of the programme, the SFCA said:
“Sixth form colleges occupy a unique place within the education landscape: combining academic excellence, inclusive opportunity and strong student progression. Leading within this environment requires specialist expertise and a clear understanding of the values, culture and mission that define the sector.”
Each session features an expert trainer specialising in a key aspect of leadership, alongside presentations from experienced Principals and senior leadership teams. They share practical insights and successful strategies that are enhancing student outcomes and improving the quality of the student experience.
Greenhead was pleased to contribute to this nationally recognised programme, sharing our expertise and best practice while supporting the development of the next generation of leaders across the sixth form college sector.
