Students Prepare for Turing Scheme Trip to Misano, Italy, with ‘Carbon Promises’

A1 students at Greenhead College with ambitions in sports coaching are eagerly preparing for an exciting international opportunity this summer – the Turing Scheme trip to Misano, Italy, taking place from 13–26 June 2026.

As part of this unique programme, students will take part in a variety of coaching activities and educational visits across the Misano region, including a trip to the historic microstate of San Marino.

As part of Step Into Your Future Week, the programme offers valuable insight into the world of sports coaching.

Participants will have the opportunity to coach local junior sports teams, develop their communication skills by learning Italian, and fully immerse themselves in the local culture. This hands-on experience is ideal for those considering a future career in sports coaching or related fields.

In preparation for the trip, students have also been encouraged to consider their environmental impact. As part of the programme, each student has committed to making two ‘carbon promises’ to help reduce their carbon footprint and address some of the emissions associated with air travel.

These personalised pledges reflect a strong sense of responsibility and include initiatives such as committing to meat‑free days, choosing active travel where possible, and making small everyday changes to support a more sustainable lifestyle.

This forward-thinking approach not only enhances the overall experience but also encourages students to consider their role in creating a more sustainable future.
