Students Transform Holme Valley Food Bank’s Online Presence with New Website and Branding

In late 2024, Holme Valley Food Bank reached out to Greenhead to ask if any of our students would be interested in helping update their website and social media branding as a volunteer project. Steve Wood oversaw the project and at first, 25 students were divided into 4 teams, each creating their own design. Tracy Clark and Abbie Simpson from the food bank reviewed the designs and chose the features they liked best.

After this, members from different teams came together to form a group of 12 volunteers who worked on the final design. The project ran from February to June 2025.

The new Holme Valley Food Bank website was released to the public in July 2025 and officially launched later that summer. All social media channels and donation pages for Holme Valley Food Bank have been updated to use the revamped branding, logo and slogan.

Yesterday, Tracy and Abbie visited the students to thank everyone involved and hand out thank-you gifts, which was especially meaningful since they represent a charitable cause. They shared that “the public are already using the new site and saying how much easier it is to use and navigate, allowing them to get the help they need without any confusion or complication.” They also stated, “It is an invaluable tool, that they would have struggled to create themselves. So, thank you!”.
