Sociology seeks to ask “why?” at every opportunity, exploring how and why society works and examining issues such as why some social groups succeed while others face disadvantage, and whether society’s laws and institutions benefit everyone equally.

Through the study of evidence, sociologists identify patterns and relationships within society, develop theories about social behaviour, and explore how culture, identity and social influences shape our lives.

Rather than simply presenting facts, Sociology at Greenhead College encourages different interpretations and explanations of social issues, helping students think beyond the obvious and develop a deeper understanding of the complex and constantly changing world around them.

Entry Guidelines

Other than the College’s general entry requirements, there are no additional qualifications required. You do need to be interested and prepared to use theories in your essay writing. There is no coursework in this subject, it is all exam-based but we will teach you the skills needed.
