Greenhead College shortlisted for two national SFCA awards

We are delighted to share that Greenhead College has been shortlisted for two national Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA) awards in the following categories:

  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Health and Well-being

The shortlisting announcement comes just one month after the College was announced FE College of the Year at the Educate North Awards in April 2025.

The award for Diversity and Inclusion focuses on the College’s Young Carers initiative, following its work with students and their parents/carers to implement a range of targeted programmes to support those with caring responsibilities. The College has a dedicated Young Carers lead who also runs an informal weekly group providing students the opportunity to meet and connect with peers with similar responsibilities. In October 2024, Greenhead College achieved the Quality Standard in Carer Support (QSCS) Accreditation for its work supporting young carers.

The award for Health and Well-being focuses on the College’s Mental Health and Well-being Framework, which is now fully integrated into all College processes. The framework demonstrates the College’s commitment to well-being and embeds a positive culture of mental and physical health that benefits the whole College community. In September 2024, Greenhead College was awarded Gold standard for its outstanding mental health and well-being provision, delivered by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools.

The winners will be revealed at a special ceremony, held during the annual SFCA conference later this month.
