Outstanding turnout to Options @ 18 Fair

February 8th 2018 saw our Options @ 18 Fair take place in College – and what a turnout!

The event was host to over 70 exhibitors representing various organisations, local and national, who provided the students with information about their courses, schemes and opportunities available.

The options fair is something that College has held for several years now, however, this years was unique in the fact that Universities attended for the first time, alongside employers, gap year organisations and apprenticeships who attend year on year.

Having Universities attending made the event the biggest and best to date. It is estimated approximately 1000 people attended during the two hours, which is phenomenal! There was a real buzz around the room and it was fabulous to see so much enthusiasm from both students and parents.

The students were highly commended by the exhibitors for showing so much interest and asking such intelligent questions.

Rowena Burton from the careers department, and organiser of the event commented:

‘We started the Employer and Gap Year Fair 5 years ago to target students who do not want to go to university but do want a high level apprenticeship. Including universities for the first time and rebranding it as Options@18 has proved hugely successful; twice as many people attended and we retained the same high quality of employers.’

Feedback, from a handful of the organisations who attended, said:

‘A great event, lots of interest!’ – Frontier

‘Well organised, great potential candidates! – Camira

‘Brilliant Students!’ – University of Creative Arts

‘A fantastic event. A pleasure to attend.’ – Lancaster University

‘Fab event, brilliant students!’ – NHS Mid Yorks

It was an extremely successful event, enjoyed by all.
