Record numbers applying to Greenhead!

Greenhead College has seen record numbers of students applying to study A Level courses in September 2019.

Principal Simon Lett said:

“We’ve had over 3000 applications, an 11% increase on last year, from young people locally and as far afield as Barnsley, Bradford, Halifax, Leeds, Oldham and Wakefield.”

Greenhead’s popularity comes on the back of a string of recent successes for the College.  A record number of 45 students secured places to study at Oxbridge universities last month.  The College was also a winner at the British Education Awards in January, with former student Shaun Marshall winning in the A Level category – the second year in a row a student from Greenhead has won this prize.  And in the latest Education Performance Tables, Greenhead was the top-performing Sixth Form College in Yorkshire for A Levels.

“Students come to Greenhead because of our outstanding track record

said Simon.

“We have a team of dedicated and committed staff who go the extra mile for students, encouraging individuals to aim high while supporting them at every stage in their studies.”

Interviews for courses starting in September 2019 will continue this month and throughout March.  Next year’s students will be able to choose from over 30 A Level courses, including English, maths, science, humanities, languages, P.E. and creative subjects, and new courses in business and music which are starting in order to support local needs.

“Our A Levels are accompanied by a distinctive extra-curricular offer, a comprehensive project and work placement programme, and bespoke pastoral and careers support delivered by experienced tutors, this is what makes Greenhead one of the best sixth forms in the country.”
