About the Department
The Careers department provides various ways of exploring the opportunities
available to students on completion of their courses here.
For those who are
uncertain about what they want to do, there are exercises, computer programmes
and personal interviews to help them clarify their aims.
For those who know
what they want to do but would like to find out more about what's involved
or how to qualify, there is a comprehensive collection of information on
a host of careers from Artist to Zoologist.
The Careers Library is open to students at any time and contains:

- Directories & Degree Courses Guides
- Information on Job Opportunities, including part-time employment

What's Ahead?
This seminar, held in the Summer term, is designed to start you thinking about your options beyond Greenhead College. The programme includes the following:

Applications for Higher Education and Employment
Students are given guidance on methods of application eg writing a CV,
writing a letter of application, filling in an application form for a job
or further or higher education, and coping with interviews. Mock interviews with outside agencies are arranged for students applying for highly competitive courses.
For those wishing to defer entry to HE, information is available for paid and
unpaid opportunities in the year between A-levels and university.
Careers Advisers
Students can book Careers interviews with a qualified Careers Adviser throughout the week. They can choose whether to see the college Careers Adviser (Rowena Burton) or Zoe Smith from Calderdale & Kirklees Careers. Students can request free literature from a comprehensive collection kept by the Careers Service.
The Careers Adviser is also available at Parents' Evenings and Open Evenings.
The Careers Intranet provides up to date information for students and is accessible from within college or at home.
