GC Sports Stars Compete at AoC Sport National Championships

On Friday 20th April 2018, 57 students from Greenhead College headed down to Nottingham to participate in the Association of Colleges Sport National Championships 2018, with Greenhead being one of the largest participating Colleges.

Representing both Greenhead College and Yorkshire & Humber, our sports stars competed in various sports including; Badminton, Basketball, Cross Country, Hockey, Netball, Table Tennis and Tennis across the three-day event, all in which our students performed outstandingly.

The results of the weekend were as follows:

  • Bronze medal for the women’s Greenhead College Hockey team.
  • Bronze medal for the women’s Yorkshire & Humber Cross Country team, represented by some Greenhead College students.
  • 4th place for the men’s Greenhead College Basketball team. A notably outstanding achievement as all of the teams that they competed against were from basketball academies.
  • 5th place for the mixed Yorkshire & Humber Tennis team, in which 4 of 5 players were from Greenhead College.
  • 5th place for the mixed Yorkshire & Humber Table Tennis team.
  • 5th place for the mixed Yorkshire & Humber Badminton team.
  • 6th place for the Greenhead College Netball team.

These results reflect the exceptional sporting talent we have here at Greenhead College, and for 57 of our students to qualify to the National Championships is a fantastic achievement. A huge congratulations to all that competed!
