Awards and Reunion Evening 2025 Celebrates Achievement and Community at Greenhead College

Greenhead College proudly welcomed over 500 guests to its Awards and Reunion Evening 2025, an inspiring event celebrating student achievement, alumni connections, and community pride.

The evening recognised a wide range of award winners whose dedication, talent, and hard work exemplify the values of Greenhead College. Students were applauded across academic, creative, and enrichment categories, with awards generously supported by our sponsors. Their ongoing commitment plays a vital role in creating opportunities for our students.

A special thank you goes to award-winning Nia Deo, our guest speaker, who inspired many of our alumni with her powerful and engaging talk about her journey into the Audio industry. We were delighted to welcome Nia back to Greenhead College following her earlier visit this year; her return was greatly appreciated by all in attendance.

The College extends sincere thanks to all sponsors, parents, and carers for their ongoing encouragement and support. Their presence on the night helped to foster a warm, celebratory atmosphere enjoyed by the entire College community.

We were especially honoured to welcome Graham Cooksey, the first Principal of Greenhead College, who presented a generous £500 prize to support a deserving student embarking on a gap year. This award will help the student bring their vision to life and reflects Mr Cooksey’s enduring dedication to the College and its students.

The Reunion Evening also offered a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with alumni, staff past and present, and friends of the College—celebrating shared memories while looking ahead to the future.

The event was a tremendous success and a true reflection of the strength and spirit of the Greenhead College community.

Introducing Nia Deo – Sony Music Entertainment Producer and Award-Winning Media Innovator:

Nia Deo, a Greenhead College alumna, is making waves in the media world as an award-winning producer for Sony Music Entertainment. Named to The Radio Academy’s 30 Under 30 (Class of 2025) for her outstanding achievements, Nia has quickly become a leading voice in podcasting and radio production.

Her journey into media began with a moment of inspiration: meeting Maya Jama on holiday and being asked to feature in a TV advert alongside her. This experience made Nia realise she wanted to create stories that connect and entertain. She started with a blog and student radio, which shaped her early career and set her on a path of creative storytelling.

Nia refined her skills through the Student Radio Association, Forge Radio, and the University of Sheffield before earning a Master’s in Broadcast Journalism at City, University of London. Today, she produces hit podcasts such as Liam and Millie and Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake with Mel Giedroyc (formerly Kathy Burke), overseeing everything from scripting and recording to advertising and talent management. She also mentors the next generation of producers, sharing her expertise while continuing to grow in her craft.

Despite navigating high-pressure events, including live broadcasts during major news moments, Nia describes podcasting as “booming, new, fresh, and exciting.” Her story is a testament to curiosity, courage, and perseverance, showing that unconventional beginnings can lead to extraordinary success—and that it’s never too early to pursue your passion.

Her talent, drive, and creativity continue to inspire the Greenhead community. Well done, Nia — this is so deserved! 💚👏
